Hardacre Community GardenTipton's Hardacre Community Garden is located at the historic Jacob Hardacre Farm at the northwest corner of Tipton. The garden represents a combined ambition of providing social and educational opportunities with the goal of producing healthy, locally grown food to be shared with neighbors throughout Cedar County and beyond. The food donated by the garden can only be consumed or shared, but not sold. And the garden's bounty leaves a light environmental footprint.
Established in 2009, the Hardacre Community Garden has been recognized as an official USDA People's Garden which means the garden adheres to three criteria-it's collaborative effort, benefits the community, and incorporates sustainable practices. With their hands in the dirt, a legion of volunteer gardening enthusiasts cultivates a wide array of healthy fruits and vegetables. The immediate recipients of the harvest are local individuals, churches, and nonprofit organizations such as the Cedar Manor Nursing Home and the Bread of Life Food Pantry. These donations provide access to fresh foods and help to build a healthy community food system.

It is probably the last "Mom and Pop" jail still standing in Iowa and possibly the nation. The jail and Sheriff's house is located one block west of the Courthouse Square in Tipton. The facility was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
