Tipton is conveniently located in the heart of Eastern Iowa and within 40 miles of three major metropolitan communities. Tipton is 40 miles west of the Mississippi River at the intersection of Highway 38 and 130 in East Central Iowa. Tipton is nine miles north of Interstate 80 which leading to the east 40 miles is the Quad Cities and to the west 25 miles is Iowa City and Coralville. US Highway 30 is eight miles north and leads 35 miles to Cedar Rapids which is the second largest city in Iowa.
The Mathews Memorial Airport is Tipton’s municipal airport. The airport caters to all small aircraft needs; including on-site 24 hour self service fueling, a 3,000’ concrete runway, passenger terminal and lounge, public restroom and telephone. Two international airports are within 45 minutes of Tipton, Quad City International Airport in Moline and the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids.
