TIPTON, Iowa—The Hardacre Theater will celebrate its 100th birthday in style.

The Hardacre Century Celebration commemorates the theater’s centennial—a major milestone—and will feature  “dueling pianos”, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, trivia and related contests, and door prizes. There will also be a cash bar.

The primary sponsor for the event, which is appropriate for all ages, is the Hardacre Theater Preservation Association (HTPA). Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes reflecting their favorite movie seen at the Hardacre Theater. KGAN anchor Scott Sanborn will serve as the emcee.

The event will begin at 7 p.m., Saturday evening, April 23. The location is the Matthews Building at the Cedar County Fairgrounds west of Tipton.

Tickets are $30 for standard seating and $40 for “deluxe” reserved seating (featuring table appetizers and other perks). Tickets will also be sold at the door for $50, if seats are still available. Purchase tickets online, at Family Foods in Tipton, or by contacting the Hardacre Theater Preservation Association at (319) 325-3974. Seating at the event is limited, so buying tickets in advance is recommended.
