The seven-member Tipton Development Commission, comprised of two Tipton City Councilors, two representatives from the Tipton Chamber of Commerce and Tipton Economic Development Corporation (TEDCO), and one at-large member, was established in 2006 to facilitate cooperation between the entities and to further the progress of Tipton as a thriving business community with a desirable quality of life.

Tipton's first-ever Community Development Director, Travis Alden, came aboard in August of 2006 to carry out the priorities and initiatives of the Commission, as well as facilitate further community-enhancing programs and events.

Travis's first tasks included promotion of Tipton as a great place to live and do business (including design of this website), taking steps toward a downtown revitalization project, and researching grants and other funding sources to aid in Tipton's community development efforts.

Throughout his tenure, Travis will be seeking input from community leaders, business owners, historical preservationists, residents, and governmental officials to devise a comprehensive vision for what projects the City should undertake, what changes should be made, and what should remain intact.

The future looks bright for the Tipton, and the City's Community Development leaders are working hard to bring continued prosperity to the community.
